100 Year Old Chocolate Was Found in the UK

Nine tiles of well-preserved chocolate are found in the collection of items of the British hero of the First World War. He received it as a gift for Christmas in 1914.

“Colonial chocolate was sent to the army in the first winter of the war, cocoa beans were supplied by Thailand, Grenada and St. Lucia. The chocolate bars were made by the British firm Cadbury,” said the director of the auction house, which sells the collection.

According to him, almost the entire set, which contained chocolate, tobacco and matches, survived, since the soldier to whom gifts were sent, did not like to smoke and eat sweet.

Tiles are well preserved, but the auctioneer does not recommend eating them, as chocolate becomes dangerous over time, RIA Novosti reported.
