Grenada Established Diplomatic Relations with Ukraine on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly

New York, September 26, 2019– Grenada has formally established diplomatic relations with Ukraine.

Joint Communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries was signed in New York on Thursday September 26, 2019.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Grenada Hon. Mr. Charles Peter David and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Hon. Mr. Vadym Prystaiko signed on behalf of the governments.

“Grenada and Ukraine, desirous to promote mutual understanding and strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, guided by the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and international law, have decided to establish diplomatic relations,” the document reads.

The ministers discussed economic and cultural development of both countries and the possibilities for further cooperation in other areas including tourism.

The ministers agreed to actively explore cooperation between both countries including cultural exchanges and bilateral visa waiver.
