Grenada Established Diplomatic Relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan

MOSCOW, RUSSIA, October 12, 2019– Grenada has formally established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries was signed in Moscow on Friday October 11, 2019.

Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Mr. Oleg Firer and H.E. Mr. Botirjon Asadov signed on behalf of the governments of Grenada and the Republic of Uzbekistan respectively.

“Grenada and the Republic of Uzbekistan, desirous to promote mutual understanding and strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, guided by the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and international law, have decided to establish diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level,” the document reads.

The ambassadors of the two countries discussed the prospects for cooperation between Grenada and Uzbekistan in areas of mutual interest, including within the framework of international organizations.

The diplomats agreed to actively explore cooperation between both countries including cultural exchanges.
