Grenadian student in Russia awarded scholarship and internship due to performance during his studies

  • Kason Charles received scholarship to study in Russia in 2014
  • Graduated in June 2019 with a BSc in Agronomy
  • Received scholarship to pursue masters in Agronomy at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN)
  • Selected for internship at the Federal Centre for Grain Quality Assurance under the jurisdiction of Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation

Kason Charles left Grenada in 2014 to pursue studies in Russia, after five years of studying in Moscow he has achieved his bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, and has recently received another scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in the same field at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN).

During the master degree studies, Kason will study plant protection with focus on bacteriology, agrochemicals, pesticides, plant quarantine, mycology and entomology in addition to agricultural statistics.

As part of the internship at the Federal Centre for Grain Quality Assurance, Kason is involved in a wide variety of food security, food quality testing and assurance, work with plant pesticide and heavy metal residue in agriculture produce, seed quality inspection and GMO testing. Through this valuable experience Kason will gain knowledge needed to contribute to the enhancement of Grenadian agricultural stock in compliance with modern international standard requirements.

The Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, also known as RUDN University, is an educational and research institution located in Moscow.
